Apple launches subscription service targeting small businesses

Apple announced Apple Business Essentials, a new service that combines device management, 24/7 support, and iCloud storage into flexible subscription plans for small businesses with up to 500 employees.

Apple launches subscription service

Apple Business Essentials aims to help small business owners manage the devices their employees use.

The service is similar to the management software that companies like Microsoft sell to large companies to set up and maintain their mobile devices, laptops, and tablets.

But Apple's version is simplified for companies with 50 to 500 employees. It either has a modest IT department or no department at all.

The service costs between $2.99 and $12.99 per month per user depending on how many devices the company wants to manage per employee and how much cloud storage the business wants.

For an additional monthly cost, the company also offers a service to repair or replace broken devices within four hours. This is despite the fact that it has not set the prices for this service yet.

Apple Business Essentials is designed to help simplify every step of employee device management within a small business. From onboarding, qualifying, and upgrading to accessing express service and priority support.

All while ensuring that data is backed up and safe, allowing businesses to focus on their core competencies.

Apple introduces Apple Business Essentials

Susan Prescott, Apple's vice president of corporate marketing and education, remarked, "Small companies are at the heart of our economy." We're proud that our goods contribute to the success of these businesses.

She added: "Time is of the essence." For small businesses, it is one of their most valuable resources. And when you start growing, there is a greater demand for time.

And service can be used to take the place of operating a business and accomplishing the things that need to be done. As a small business grows, Apple Business Essentials saves them time.

Pairing the management software with a repair service subscription is unique in the industry, said Maribel Lopez, Founder, and Principal Analyst at Lopez Research.

"People think this part isn't important," she said. But I think they underestimate the importance of being able to get good service.

Apple has released a new Apple Business Essentials app that allows employees to download and support work apps.

The company said it is beginning to test Apple Business Essentials in the United States. It is free until the service trial is completed next year.

The service will be fully available in the spring of 2022. Executives said that Apple plans to expand it to other locations in the future.
