iPhone and how to speed up the charging

What is the reason for the slow charging of the iPhone and how you can speed it up?

speed up the charging

Despite the many advantages that iPhone phones have, charging the battery is very slow, especially when compared to Android phones.

In terms of numbers, we find that the maximum charging speed for iPhone phones is 20 watts, while the charging speed of Android phones is currently 120 watts.

The alternative is the excellent battery life of the iPhone, but slow charging is still an annoyance for users, so can you really improve the charging speed of the phone in order to save time? This is what we learn about in detail in this topic.

How to Speed Up iPhone Charging?

If your iPhone supports fast charging, there is indeed a chance to charge it from zero to 50% in just half an hour, but what phones support fast charging

Apple has started providing fast charging to users starting with iPhone 8 and newer including iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and of course the newer iPhone models like 11, 12, and 13 with their different versions.

In order to charge your iPhone quickly, you will first need to get a USB-C charger head in addition to being supportive of Power Delivery technology, which has become widely available, in addition, that, you will also need a USB-C - Lightning cable that comes with the iPhone phones 12 and 13 but for older phones, it comes with a USB-A cable which is much slower to charge.

As for wireless chargers, they are not at all preferred when it comes to fast charging, even MagSafe technology in modern iPhone phones cannot reach the speed of wireless chargers, for example, MagSafe provides a charging speed of up to 15 watts while wired chargers can support up to 30 watts and more as well.

In practice, charging the iPhone 12 Pro takes about 2 hours and 36 minutes with wireless charging, but with a Lightning cable, the phone can be charged in only 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Turn off the phone while charging

It may be annoying to turn off our smartphones, even for a short period, especially with the increasing dependence on them in all daily tasks, however, this matter will help you to increase the charge of the phone very significantly, but what is the reason for that?

Quite simply, when the phone remains on while charging, a not small part of the power will be drained in order to run services and applications in the background and allow receiving notifications in addition to connecting to different networks and much more, and in order to prevent all these activities from consuming power, you will need to stop only your phone, which will greatly speed up the charging of the phone.

Activate flight mode

If you cannot turn off the phone while charging, you can activate Airplane mode instead, as we mentioned to you, networks consume a very large portion of battery power, whether Wi-Fi networks, cellular data, or even Bluetooth, as your phone will constantly try to connect to the available networks or search for the nearest tower to transmit the signal, and in order to do this, the phone emits radio waves to locate the towers and then continuously analyzes the signal strength to measure how close the tower is to get the best connection, but this leads to battery consumption.

Of course, you can disable all those activities that occur on your phone by turning on the flight mode, which completely turns off all wireless connections, and you can activate the flight mode by opening the Control Center by scrolling down or up the screen depending on the version of your iPhone, and here click on the icon aircraft in order to enable or disable flight mode.

Activate low power mode

In addition to Airplane mode, you can also activate the Low Energy Mode “Power Saving” which reduces power consumption by reducing the number of unnecessary tasks and activities running in the background, and this of course will help you reduce the time required to charge the iPhone, and the affected tasks include.

For example, fetching emails in the background, automatic downloads, and updates, as well as disabling some visual effects on the screen, iCloud services, 5G networks, etc. are other unnecessary and power-draining tasks.

This mode also stops updating apps in the background in order to send notifications, and this means that the apps will not work to bring updates or new content constantly until you turn off the mode, and in order to activate the low power mode, go to the settings and then choose the battery and click on Low Power Mode switch.

You can also turn it on or off from the Control Center as well but you will need to add it first by going into Settings, then Control Center, then Customize Controls, here choose Low Power Mode to add it to the Control Center.

Maintain phone temperature

The high temperature of the iPhone can lead to consuming a large part of the energy that enters the phone during the charging process, which makes it need a very large time to charge the battery, and in order to avoid this, the temperature of the phone must be maintained moderate by keeping it away from places.

It is also important not to use strong applications or games that cause the phone to overheat as it will make the charging process much slower.
